The gemstone of the month of May is known for its light blue, representing serenity and rebirth. The stone was named after the first emperor of Brazil. The german gem artist took nearly six month crafting out the design until he settles with “Ondas Maritimas” or “Waves of the sea”

Mrs. Eleanor Roosvelt’s AquamarineIn 1936 during an official visit to Brazil, president Franklin D. Roosevelt received a gift from President Getulio Vargas. He later on gave the 1298 carat, emerald cutted to his first lady, Eleanor Roosvelt. The rough stone originally weighed 1.3 kilogram and was cutted by Gustav Reitbauer of Amsterdam.
